There weren't a great deal of locations to explore, characters to hear or new ideas to ponder in The Day Will Come When You Won't Be.

However, in among the Negan-shaped carnage were some subtle throwbacks to previous episodes and seasons, that you almost certainly didn't catch the first time around.

Of course, it was easy to be distracted while one of the first characters fans were ever introduced to was smashed into the dust, so here's the snappy roundup of everything you missed in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere.

6. Abraham's Secret Goodbye

Abraham was such a fantastic character. Deep, cynical, dark and sadistically witty. Unfortunately he was the chosen one for Lucille. The second Negan made his decision, there was nothing left to do but sit and wait for the inevitable doom.

But in those chilling final few seconds of Abraham's life, he managed to squeeze in a final, private goodbye to his love, Sasha, in the form of a peace sign. The pair threw up the two fingers in previous episodes as a sign of affection and companionship, and he produced the goods one final time.

Actor Michael Cudlitz brought that moment of magic to the show and executed it perfectly, never taking his eyes away from Negan, dying with a typically gung-ho statement, yet still managing to extend his fingers into a heart-breaking goodbye.
