The Walking Dead Season 8: 4 Ups And 4 Downs From 'Monsters'

The Widow, the King, and the Man from Alexandria... It's almost the start of a terrible joke, but instead serves as the structure for the latest episode of The Walking Dead.
A direct continuation of The Damned, Monsters picks up on the cliffhanger of the newly-returned Morales pointing a gun in Rick's face, sees Gregory make it back to the Hilltop for a showdown with Maggie, and has Ezekiel and his followers doing more of whatever it is they were supposed to be doing last week.
It's another example of the season treating these first few instalments as an action movie, as opposed to being more overtly episodic, which isn't fully working right now. It's nice to see the show attempting to do something a bit different, and it does at least mean no singular instalments that drag like we endured last year, but it also results in episodes that aren't fully satisfying on their own terms.
Such was the case with this week, where we had are some moments that really stood out and shined brightly, but others that unfortunately fall flat in this continued tale of men, monsters, and Morales. Warning: contains spoilers.
