Game of Thrones has returned for its eighth and final season, but there's one big change that's been made to the show: the opening credits have had their biggest ever revamp.

The show's opening credits, set to Ramin Djawidi's epic theme tune, have become one of the most iconic parts of the series over the last eight years: not only do the help build the anticipation and really get you in the mood for the episode, but the map of Westeros (and Essos) serves as a handy signifier of where the instalment is going to take us.

Typically it just passed over each destination, but with Season 8 converging all of its characters in just a couple of locations, they've had to mix things up. The credits for Season 8 begin with the Wall, crucially missing a large chunk, before the ice spreads over to Last Hearth (which plays a small but important part in the episode).

We then get a much more detailed look at both Winterfell and King's Landing, with new animation showing us things like the Crypts of Winterfell and the skull of Balerion the Dread that lies underneath the Red Keep.

HBO have made the new credits available online, and it's really worth checking them out again.
