If there's one personality comedians love to parody, it's William Shatner. And if there's one person who will do so more than the comedians, it's William Shatner himself. In a career spanning decades it is almost as if the number of self parodying performances outnumber his other, more serious(ish) acting parts. From Airplane II to ultimate Star Wars homage Fanboys, Shatner has appeared in a broad range of feature films that would not have been possible were it not for his now classic, larger than life, self depreciating style. In fact he only agreed to appear in indie flick Free Enterprise if his portrayal of himself was intentionally exaggerated. As such he is credited as playing the characer of "Bill". Likewise, television audiences have similarly been entertained by his performances as "William Shatner" ever since his turn at hosting Saturday Night Live back in 1986. Whilst most remembered for his Get a life! sketch, which did mainly poke fun at the fans, his parodies have since become bigger and better. Whether he is mocking his typecast roles or his over the top acting, anyone who has seen 3rd Rock From The Sun's Big Giant Head for instance, will agree there is often no other actor that could take his place. To celebrate the 83rd birthday of this ultimate lampooing legend, here is the five prime examples which prove that he is both his own best critic, and worst enemy. Happy Birthday Bill!
