After attending a WWE house show, have you ever questioned your decision to go in the first place?

Seeing the stars we gawp at on television each week in the flesh is cool, I get that. But more often than not WWE Live events plod along through the motions with nothing really of note happening. You'll have a couple of laughs seeing little touches the superstars aren't allowed to do on television but that's about it. The matches are slow paced to prevent injury and the winners are transparent as soon as all the combatants are in the ring.

Knowing the lure of seeing your favourite superstar in the flesh might not be enough to draw a good house in the towns where WWE host their television shows especially, the powers that be like to throw a red herring in the mix from time to time; whether that be in the form of a match more star studded than Ric Flair's entrance attire or by having a championship change hands when the cameras aren't rolling.

Madison Square Garden this past Friday night anyone... ?

Remember at the start of SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role when Jim Ross says, "Ladies and gentlemen this is proof, anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!"? Well, the following examples prove this statement to be true to this day.

10. AJ Styles Vs. Kevin Owens - WWE Live Event 7/7/17

Let's kick things off with the most recent, shall we? Yes, AJ Styles won the WWE United States Championship from Kevin Owens at a WWE house show at Madison Square Garden last night.

The Phenomenal One was set to face The New Face Of America at the upcoming Battleground pay per view after winning a number one contender's Battle Royal on this past week's SmackDown Live. Now however, it looks like the roles of champion and challenger will be reversed in a couple of weeks time in Philadelphia.

With the atmosphere at fever pitch Styles toppled KO with a Phenomenal Forearm to pick up the win, sending the New York masses into raptures.

In a press release following the match, WWE urged fans to tune into the upcoming episode of SmackDown Live to follow all the fallout from the match suggesting the whole thing was set up to boost television ratings. If that is the case, good. There's nothing like must-see TV!
