The year 2014 is not going to be remembered as a great year for World Wrestling Entertainment. While there were definitely some things that fans love about it, there was also a lot of off screen stuff that dominated the headlines starting in January. This year has had it all. There were major title wins, heel/face turns all over the place, the sadness of unexpected deaths, surprise returns and a lot of moments that left us scratching our head. The on screen product in WWE may have been a letdown in a lot of ways, but thanks to behind the scenes news, podcasts and everything else off screen there was plenty of news created by people in the business. It's funny how that works. It was not a financially successful year for WWE. Due to the launch of the WWE Network, the company's operating costs skyrocketed. However, it has led to a tense atmosphere at times, which partly led to one of WWE's biggest stars walking away from the company for good. A lot of these things might be depressing to go over one more time, but with 2014 winding down it's important to remember how much things have changed for better or worse. Here's a look at ten of the biggest news items in WWE this year.
