10 Expectations Vs. Reality For WWE Royal Rumble 2021
WWE Royal Rumble is right around the corner - but is Brock Lesnar? Damien Priest? Santina Marella?!
Does anybody out there have any expectations for the 2021 Royal Rumble, particularly?
Until Edge returned on this week's RAW, the field was bereft of real star power and lacking in terms of potential winners. At least, in 2020, WWE seemed to go big with Drew McIntyre. By modern standards, it was enough that he was promoted with conviction, even if it was very sudden and arrived it by a last-minute glance at his quarter hours. This year...Daniel Bryan? He is one of the greatest of all-time anywhere, but he's just eaten losses to Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro.
Shinsuke Nakamura? He lost to Otis in under three minutes last month.
And on and on it goes.
This annual article is a doomy forecast intended to pop WWE cynics and help the hopeless romantics - not that F*CK OFF U MARK GO AND LICK TONY KHANS ASS is romantic behaviour, particularly - accept the inevitable.
So do that which you preach and don't engage, if you're upset over the imminent prospect of big Brock f*cking Lesnar massacring the guy you think is getting the big push because he won a match two weeks ago that Vince McMahon has long forgotten about.
You want it to be one way, Marlo Stanfield once said.
But it's the other way.
10. How Does The Fiend Come Back?
Expectation:
It would appear that the Fiend's ghost is inhabiting Alexa Bliss, which seems mightily redundant since he was controlling her all along, was he not? Maybe ghost powers > mind control powers. Or maybe Wyatt and Vince McMahon are making this bullsh*t up as they go along.
So perhaps he's back, and this is it. He is Alexa Bliss now, and Randy Orton Vs. Alexa Bliss is the plan for WrestleMania 37.
This isn't true. Alexa Bliss will perform a ceremony of some sort to bring him back, or he'll just come back at the Rumble rematerialised. Or maybe, since WWE is mad keen on dated references, all of these metaphysical shenanigans will create some sort of storyline inspired by '80s body swap movies. Alexa Bliss can continue to portray The Fiend, and meanwhile, Bray Wyatt plays "Five Feet of Fury" Alexa Bliss and reform Team Little Big with the drowned remains of Braun Strowman #longtermstorytelling.
Or just maybe, as Wyatt himself alluded to on Twitter in the immediate wake of...his f*cking wake, we'll see a brand new supernatural extension of the charred character. Like Freddy Krueger or something. Burnt face mask. Red and black jumper.
WWE scriptwriters are in love with the word "bitch!", so it's not beyond the realms.
Reality:
The Fiend will return with his mask burned a bit.
