10 Greatest Big Man/Little Man WWE Tag Teams Of All Time
What happens when you put David and Goliath on the same team?
Chris Farley and David Spade. Groot and Rocket. The Skipper and Gilligan. Ren and Stimpy. These classic duos all have one thing in common: when they stand next to each other, they couldn't look any more disproportionate. And that's part of their appeal.
There's something fascinating about watching a really big guy form an alliance with a really little guy. These types of physical odd couples have existed throughout the ages in pretty much all forms of entertainment, because it's a novelty that simply hasn't worn off yet.
But in the wrestling world, it's rare to see two drastically mismatched physical specimens on the same side. David versus Goliath is a common trope. David with Goliath? That's not something that works out too often.
Of course, that's not to say that it can't work. Pairing two performers with wildly different body types and move sets together occasionally produces some real magic, as their disparities create a unique interplay you don't typically see from more, ahem, proportional teams.
These duos (and occasionally trios) defied conventional logic and cemented themselves as truly exceptional tag teams on their own terms.
10. Owen Hart & Yokozuna
This hodgepodge duo appeared pretty much out of thin air, with Yokozuna returning from a six-month absence to be announced as Owen Hart's much-anticipated "mystery partner" against The Smoking Gunns at WrestleMania XI.
Yokozuna, who had packed on a substantial amount of weight in his downtime, looked more imposing than ever. And although he'd certainly lost a step since the last time he was inside a WWE ring, Owen was so dynamic that Yoko didn't have to contribute much in order for them to put on a great match.
To that end, it should be noted that this duo was able to scrape good-to-great matches out of The Allied Powers (Lex Luger and The British Bulldog), Bob "Spark Plug" Holly & The 1-2-3 Kid, and even Men On a Mission (which included a very green Mabel).
Between the two of them, there was hardly anything they couldn't do. You got to see a little bit of everything whenever they stepped into the ring together. And that's what makes a great tag team: complementary styles. Big power moves, technical grappling, aerial maneuvers, high kicks, ring psychology, and at least one "OH MY GOD" moment per match were typically in store for any Owen/Yoko tag match.
