10 Hidden Meanings Behind WWE Survivor Series 2019 Attire
Look, it's not supposed to be Doink. Probably.
At Survivor Series - as is now the established tradition ever since the brand split - the rule is very much "show your club colours. You'll get beaten up if you do - but that's sort of the point."
This year, The Club's colours were crimson. AJ Styles and his OC cronies are on Raw, so for one night only, they swapped black for blood red.
And for the most part, that was pretty much the through-line of thinking for all attire at 2019's impromptu interbrand war. The Raw squad donned scarlet, SmackDown's boys dressed in blue, and the NXT fellas... well, they weren't quite as well-coordinated, going with black, yellow, gold, and in Keith Lee's case, flippin' turquoise.
But not everybody adhered to the strict pigment protocol in Chicago last night - even within the show's triple-sided fight for supremacy. In one championship bout, a popular underdog once more channeled his comic book passion - or love for early-'90s WWF heels, whilst another set of champions paid tribute to their crocked comrade.
And Seth Rollins? With clothes alone, he found another way to make himself unlikeable. He's got some knack for it.
10. Tooting Their Own Fallen Trumpet
You can generally rely on the New Day lads' gear to be absolutely bursting at Big E's stretched seams with both colour and meaning, and that was once again the case at Survivor Series. The SmackDown tag champions made subtle reference to their fallen compadre Xavier Woods, ruled out for a year after an Achilles' tear, with the initials 'XW' on their armbands.
Less subtly, both had the face of the WWE brass band's first chair trumpetist plastered all across their togs. As ever, the tandem's regular collaborator and great mate of WhatCulture Jonathan Davenport handily detailed the design over on his Instagram account.
