The 2017 Royal Rumble is shaping up to be one of the more unpredictable renditions in the pay-per-view’s history. With just hours to go until show time, I’m still struggling to narrow down my list of potential winners to fewer than about six or seven likely candidates, and that’s before even considering all the twists and turns we’re likely to see along the way.

Granted this is obviously a good thing, especially after the feeling of inevitability that has plagued the event in recent years, but it does mean that this article could—and likely will—end up being way wide of the mark.

Still, with the seeds having been sown for a number of potential outcomes to manifest themselves this weekend, this article takes a stab at calling some of the possibilities...

10. Seth Rollins Confronts Triple H

We already know that Seth Rollins won’t be in the Royal Rumble, but that doesn’t mean he won’t show up on Sunday in some capacity.

Rollins surrendered his spot in the 30-man match when he lost to Sami Zayn on Raw this week, thanks largely to a major assist from Triple H’s entrance music. And those mind games look to be the spark that will thrust this protracted Rollins vs. Triple H feud back into the spotlight, with this Sunday’s pay-per-view providing the perfect opportunity to build on that momentum by having Rollins seek some sort of revenge.

That may come in the form of Rollins re-inserting himself in the Rumble somehow—perhaps if only to screw Triple H, should the Game makes a surprise appearance in the match himself—or more likely it’ll involve him simply calling out his old mentor to set up some kind of face-to-face showdown.

With a four-hour show to fill there’ll certainly be plenty of time for it, and god knows it’s something this story is in need of.
