Unlike most athletes, professional wrestlers don't get off seasons and are on the road for hundreds of days a year, putting their bodies on the line for the fans' entertainment. The in-ring action, intense training sessions, and hectic travel schedules leave themselves vulnerable to injuries that put them on the shelf for a significant period or for good.

Wrestling fans have seen performers suffer severe injuries that have ended careers and even claimed lives over the years. The promotions also have dedicated policies and programs to help wrestlers get the necessary treatments and support before they enter the ring again.

Broken bones, dislocated joints, torn ACLs, MCLs, back injuries, and concussions are the most common ones sustained by pro wrestlers. However, there have been freak accidents, unusual circumstances, and downright strange occurrences have also caused harm to the wrestlers, which proves how unpredictable pro wrestling can be.

Sometimes, even some of their most common and menial routines have caused unexpected damage to their bodies. Also, modern-day wrestlers leaning towards doing all these outlandish stunts in the matches and kicking it up a notch by breaching their hardcore side are doing them more harm than favors. But they continue to push their limits in and outside the ring and find themselves in bizarre situations, leading to even stranger injuries...

10. Shinsuke Nakamura Bitten By A Dog

Shinsuke Nakamura has been an active in-ring competitor for over two decades and has endured his fair share of injuries. However, he wasn't prepared for what hit him, or what bit him, when he came in to work a house show in June 2018.

Nakamura was supposed to work a live event at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California, on 25 June 2018. The Bakersfield Police Department's EOD team was performing a routine protective sweep of the arena before the event with their explosive detection trained canine team and bomb technicians.

Nakamura was already in the arena during the security check, and as the canine team entered the room where he was in to sniff it out for any potential threat, one of the dogs bit Nakamura on his left leg. He was taken to a local medical facility after the incident, and reports stated that his leg was "very sore" from the bite.

WWE pulled him from the live event and the following episode of SmackDown, where he was supposed to take on Jeff Hardy for the United States Championship. He also didn't compete at WWE's Japan tour the same week and got sidelined for two weeks before returning to the ring at a house show on 9 July 2018.
