Shawn Michaels is arguably the greatest in-ring performer in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment. He also had a reputation as one of the biggest jerks in wrestling too. There were two different periods of Shawn's career. He started in WWE in the late 1980s as part of the Rockers tag team, moved up the ranks as an IC Champion, then a top guy World Champion and then his career ended prematurely in 1998 due to a serious back injury that required surgery. Four years later, he returned to the ring and was a regular on WWE TV until he retired at WrestleMania 26 in 2010. His last match ever with The Undertaker was the match of the year, which showed just how great he was in the ring. When he came back in 2002 he was a changed man. He had found God, he was very religious and he kicked the drug problem that gave him all those problems in the 1990s. Thanks to the support of his wife and kids, Michaels was a respectable veteran instead of an intolerable jerk. This feature is a look at some of Shawn Michaels' urban legends that mostly took place right up until his career ended in 1998. There are some things that happened in the 2000s, but the 1990s dominate this look at his career. The name "Bret Hart" is going to be mentioned a lot too because a lot of the controversies involved him. As always, what we do is give you information about the story involving a particular legend. Then I look at why people believe it to be true. For each point I'll try to use logic to determine if we should believe it. Keep in mind that Shawn Michaels is my favourite wrestler ever and it's not easy to write negative things about him, but in the wrestling business it happens to everybody. Here's a look at ten of the most notorious urban legends about the WWE Hall of Famer known as Mr. WrestleMania for putting on the best matches, the "Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels.
