10 Potential Main Events For WWE Survivor Series 2016
What could headline the 30th annual November tradition?
Believe it or not, this November will mark the 30th edition of WWE's second-longest running pay-per-view event, Survivor Series. Since 1987, this November tradition has played host to some of the biggest main events in WWE history.
From the epic finish of Hulk Hogan Vs. The Undertaker and the Montreal Screwjob and to The Rock's first World Championship win and the debut of The Shield, the conclusion of Survivor Series has often left fans speechless as WWE begins it's early path to WrestleMania.
While the Royal Rumble is the 'official' starting point for the Road To WrestleMania, Survivor Series acts as the unofficial launching pad. This year's event is unlikely to be any different, especially with it being the 30th edition of the famed event, an event with a rich and varied history, full of incredible moments and matches.
But what will close the show of the 30th Survivor Series? A RAW match? A SmackDown match? Perhaps some combination of the two?
Many possibilities lie ahead as WWE begins it's march towards WrestleMania 33 in Orlando next Spring, but these are (right now) the top 10 most likely main events...
10. Kevin Owens Vs. Sami Zayn - WWE Universal Championship
A match that could headline the 30th annual Survivor Series is the first WWE Universal Championship PPV meeting between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Both superstars have feuded throughout their NXT and WWE careers, and WWE has made no bones about wanting to go back to that rivalry in the future.
While some fans may have tired from seeing the two real-life friends go back-and-forth so often during their first year on the main roster, the WWE Universal Championship would add a new wrinkle.
In addition, Sami Zayn actually defeated the current champ in their last major one-on-one contest at Battleground 2016 in July. To resume the Zayn vs. Owens feud would not be unusual given the staple WWE booking strategy in which the newly crowned champion resumes a feud with a challenger that had previously defeated him. While Owens would likely come out on top, Zayn would be a credible threat to the title since he had previously defeated Kevin cleanly.
It may not be the most likely match to headline the November supershow, but given the quality of matches the two have had, plus their long-standing rivalry, there's definitely a chance.
