10 Things AEW Needs To Stop Doing IMMEDIATELY
For all AEW's greatness, there are still certain issues that need to immediately be stomped out.
On a weekly basis, many would claim that All Elite Wrestling delivers the best professional wrestling action in the industry right now.
For Tony Khan's promotion, it's doing so much right these days. Like any upstart company in any sector of business, there were always going to be plentiful teething problems for AEW. And while so many of those issues have been tidied up by this point in the organisation's lifespan, there are still some unfortunate niggles that continue to plague the land of #AllElite.
Some of these niggles may be long-standing ones that date back to the formation of AEW, while others may be issues that have more recently surfaced, but all of them are things that Khan's company would be best to squash as soon as possible. Despite there being so much to enjoy about the AEW product and presentation, there are still those creases that continue to need to be ironed out.
With that in mind, then - and admittedly with the awareness that, yes, some of the following content will make your writer sound like a complete curmudgeon - here are ten things that AEW needs to stop doing ASAP.
10. Exasperated Excalibur
Make no mistake about it, Excalibur is fantastic in his role at the AEW commentary booth. For the audience AEW usually attracts, the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla co-founder is pitch-perfect with his delivery, his knowledge, and his overall enthusiasm for the All Elite product.
While it was initially somewhat cute to see Excalibur having to speed through a ridiculous amount of information in a short space of time, it's nowadays become incredibly off-putting to hear Ex genuinely run out of breath as he's tasked with hyping the action for upcoming AEW shows.
Yes, this has become a running joke amongst AEW fans, but that joke is now old and not funny.
Whether this is part of a wider problem with timing amongst AEW programming is up for debate, but regardless, it's jarring to hear Excalibur have 20 seconds to run through matches for, say, next Friday's Rampage, the following Wednesday's Dynamite, possibly Battle of the Belts or a PPV, and maybe even make the odd mention of something that's coming up on Dark or Dark: Elevation.
AEW should be commended for how much it announces and promotes matches and segments ahead of time, but the way in which the company does so needs to be improved.
