Had anyone told you that AJ Styles would be WWE Champion for over 300 days several years ago, you'd have been forgiven for rolling your eyes and asking if they'd been getting enough sleep. There was a time when AJ ruling the roost under Vince McMahon's watchful gaze seemed like an impossibility.
It's happening, and it's (fittingly) phenomenal. Seeing AJ work lengthy programs against Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe and even John Cena has been a blast over the past few years.
Styles has become WWE's resident super worker, and he's someone the promotion can point to as an example of everything that's right with company output in 2018. It hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows however. Add prior success onto the bumps AJ has experienced since joining in 2016 and it becomes clear there are things WWE would rather fans forgot about his career.
