10 Wrestlers WWE Fans Were Convinced Would Become Megastars (But Didn't)
Not everyone lives up to their potential in professional wrestling.
A surprisingly small number of men make it to the top of the WWE mountain.
Throughout the history of the company, the roster has been packed full of world-class talent, performers who have all the tools to become 'the man' at some point in the future. The problem for those men is that the future doesn't always arrive, and pro wrestling can be a frustratingly stagnant place.
The past decade or so has been particularly busy when it comes to sure-fire future world champions, as WWE has done a great job of getting across the idea that the number of opportunities available to wrestlers has increased. Still, despite the multitudes of would-be guys, there have only 76 world champions in WWE history. Some folk just don't make it.
In the last decade, the voice of the internet wrestling fandom has increased in volume, and not a year passes without certain individuals having the crown of 'future of the business' placed on their heads.
The crown can sometimes prove more of a curse than a blessing however, and the misplaced optimism of the fans leads them only to further disappointment...
