Lord knows what younger fans who only really know The Rock from Hollywood must think when firing up WWE Network content between 1996-97. Not yet the blockbuster film crossover who has the luxury of dipping a toe back into wrestling whenever he feels like it, young poodle-haired Rocky was instead finding his feet.

Boy, did he ever find them - but that journey wasn't without hiccups along the way.

That's the story here: those angles, feuds or storylines that saved WWE careers from disaster. Would these men have eventually been fired without stumbling into these roles? Maybe, it's possible. It's also conceivable the most talented would have found another way to get over.

It's all easy with the benefit of hindsight, but the fact is that stars like The Rock, Triple H and John Cena weren't always the household names they are today. They had to go through some serious struggles before landing the stories that'd change their lives forever.
