Well, that was certainly a show.

Raw has become increasingly skippable since April's Superstar Shake-Up gutted the roster, but last night's was one of the year's most inconsequential. We got a couple of minor Extreme Rules developments, a Bayley heel turn, and an excellent main event.

That isn't anywhere near enough solid content to fill a three-hour show, and it wasn't enough to save Raw from the mire either. A shame, as last week's good-to-great episode almost had us believing that WWE's traditional summer slump was no longer inevitable.

Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns' escalation tensions were pushed front and centre early on. There were developments in the tag division, with the Authors Of Pain finally returning to Monday nights, and the B-Team's Curtis Axel wrestling Matt Hardy in singles competition. Elsewhere, Nia Jax switched sides again, Braun Strowman teamed with Kevin Owens to face Finn Bálor and Constable Corbin, Mojo Rawley reminded the universe of his existence, and Seth Rollins sought to retake the Intercontinental Championship he lost last week.

Easter eggs, hidden gems, and small snafus were laced throughout, with the show's Nytol-like qualities guaranteeing many will have flown under the radar. Let's sift through them...

It was a big night for Bobby Lashley, who currently finds himself without an Extreme Rules match following Kurt Angle's decision to can the multi-person number one contender's bout, but will likely face Roman Reigns.

Lashley teamed with 'The Big Dog' last night, taking on The Revival in the opener. The bout leaned heavily on their communication issues, which ultimately cost them the match, as Dash Wilder rolled Reigns up following an accidental Spear on Lashley.

Bobby's problems began earlier. At one point, his signature headband was knocked clean off. He tagged Roman in, went outside, and put it back on, but got it the wrong way around. The Nike swoosh logo was front and center. This is an issue, as WWE aren't sponsored by the sportswear giant, but somebody in the back noticed and got word to the referee, who let Lashley know while Reigns was grappling with Wilder.

A minor flub, but a flub none the less. Poor old Bobby just can't catch a break lately.
