Wrestling industry insiders are now reporting that John Cena will return to WWE at the December 13 TLC special. Officially, his next advertised date with the company is December 19, for a Los Angeles house show that will also feature Brock Lesnar. Before that event was announced, he had been advertised to return on the December 26 New York house show, in a match which had him listed to defend the US Title against Sheamus. But with this being WWE, "surprises" are always likely. It was always expected that Cena would be back earlier than the advertised dates...
11. Hometown Surprise
TLC will be in Boston, Massachusetts, which isn't far from Cena's actual hometown of West Newbury. In WWE's minds, that makes Cena perfect for a "hometown hero" angle on December 13. He does generally receive better reactions from the Boston crowd, and it would be a hot way to bring him back if he came out in Boston sports gear and milks a big cheer from the crowd. On paper, advertising a guy like Cena ahead of time makes sense, but for an angle like this they'd leave it as a surprise. It would be cool for the crowd, in addition to a feel-good moment for Cena.
