It's been a whirlwind April for WWE. From WrestleMania in New Orleans to South Africa, then onto to St. Louis and a trip to Saudi Arabia for the Greatest Royal Rumble, the guys and gals comprising WWE's roster have been well-travelled. They must have been bleary-eyed as they touched base in Montreal for this week's Raw.

Not to worry: the fans in Quebec made all those hours sitting around in airports worth it.

The French-Canadian flavour whipped up inside The Bell Centre felt like a post-'Mania edition of the show rather than a late-April one. If only Raw could play in front of a crowd this passionate every week. Then again, an audience unwilling to tow the party line would wreak havoc on characterisation and storylines, and that wouldn't suit WWE.

Nobody watching Raw could have missed the rowdy nature of the live crowd, but it may have been easy to overlook who they were cheering and booing.

Beyond the fired-up audience, there were other little nuances and Easter eggs that poke holes in WWE's logic, give credit to maligned announcers and hint at heel turns that could reinvent a certain Irishman's career...
