20 Most Revealing AEW Instagram Posts Of The Week (Jan 10)
How did our favourite AEW stars kick off 2021 on Instagram?
After finishing 2020 with a touching tribute to former TNT Champion and all round adored human being Jon Huber, AEW were focused on kicking off 2021 with a bang. After Night One of the two-week New Year's Smash, we can safely say they did precisely that...and then some.
Starting as they meant to go on, the promotion got the ball rolling with a typically electric tag team showcase, pitting AEW Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks and SCU up against The Acclaimed and TH2. That, along with a monster mash between Jake Hager and Wardlow and Cody Rhodes' exhibition against Matt Sydal (with added Snoop Splash), would've usually been enough to send even the most cynical crowd home happy, eagerly awaiting the second dose of NYS goodness. But, the best was yet to come.
After AEW Women's Champion Hikaru Shida had finally put down the undead Abadon, Kenny Omega defended his AEW World Championship in a match against Rey Fenix that will likely find itself in most fans' Match of the Year shortlist come the end of 2021. Yep, six days into the new year and AEW gave us a contest crammed full of disturbing neck bumps, ultra creative sequences, and more drama than your average episode of Eastenders.
Then, just as fans were bracing themselves for a sickening Fenix beatdown post-match courtesy of Omega, 'The Cleaner' was only joined and defended in the ring by Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and, eventually, Matt and Nick Jackson. Yep, six days into the new year and AEW gave us the long awaited arrival of their very own Bullet Club. Oh, and Matt Jackson's Instagram tells us they already have a shirt out...so it's official...
