21 WTF Moments From WCW Nitro (Feb 9th, 1998)

WCW caught in a net and New Tag Team Champs on Nitro!

By Kenny McIntosh /

The hype for SuperBrawl VIII continues this week on Nitro as we see the fallout from Hollywood Hogan essentially turning his back on his nWo comrade Randy Savage last week. Meanwhile, The Steiner Brothers continue to try and put their differences aside as they get a shot at The Outsiders' WCW Tag Team titles. The more I watch these shows, the more clear is becomes that the three hour format is going to be a problem long-term as it's tough to keep the fans engaged for that amount of time. To WCW's credit, they still do a much better job of making three hours pass by than WWE does these days. Perhaps WWE creative should be watching these old shows back when they get the chance? Once again there's no appearance by Bret Hart, which is strange to me given that he's wanting to get in the hunt to become the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. It feels like they've already lost any potential opportunity to capitalize on his buzz following the Montreal Screwjob, because he hasn't been on their flagship show for two weeks in a row now, with no explanation offered for his absence. Hart's continuing absence is far from the only WTF moment this week, mind...

21. Hogan's Bicep Muscle Is The Size Of Eric Bischoff's Head

If you watch Hollywood Hogan on Nitro, two things should be abundantly clear: 1. He enjoys dousing himself in oil 2. He loves to flex. As he comes out for the show opening promo with his BFF, Eric Bischoff, in tow he flexes his bicep and it suddenly is revealed that Hogan's 24 inch python is just about the size of Easy E's head. It's disappeared into a land of oil and muscle. Unfortunately, my 8 inch pythons wouldn't do the same. Mental note: Must get back to the gym, brother.
