We're firmly in the middle of prime 'WTF' season now, at least in terms of WWE's annual schedule. With WrestleMania firmly behind us, SummerSlam in the books, and a good four months to burn before the Royal Rumble, we've reached that part of the year when angles make a desperate grab for attention - often by getting downright weird. A prime example is the current WWE Championship programme between Seth Rollins and Kane, which took another bizarro turn on this week's edition of Smackdown. We also saw another convoluted twist in the tale of Team PCB (a storyline which seems to be unfolding in reverse), a slew of questionable crowd signs, and the New Day...doing their usual thing. Here are 21 of the strangest moments from this week's Smackdown, starting with a peculiar twist on the classic "return from injury" trope - a return to injury.

21. Kane's Injury Is Back

WWE Champion Seth Rollins wasted no time opening the show, cutting off his own music almost immediately. He demanded Kane come out and explain himself, following another attack on Monday Night Raw. The Director of Operations was slow to respond, hobbling out on crutches. That's right, his leg injury was inexplicably back - the same injury that was mystically healed by a stomp of the foot on Monday. It looks like WWE are persisting with the split-personality angle, a storyline which is already riddled with inconsistencies and illogical happenings. We're expected to cheer it though, because Kane's the face.
