A new star, Ryback's farewell and Balor says suck it...

By Simon Gallagher /

It's Money In The Bank weekend, and with the event comes the inevitable round of rumours: could Randy Orton make a surprise appearance? Will Finn Balor finally make his long-expected main roster debut? Is Dean Ambrose a shoe-in for the MITB win? It's always fun to speculate, and then be utterly disappointed. Probably.

This week also saw WWE sign their first Chinese star in a bid to cement growth in that market, there were strong rumours of Bray Wyatt's impending return thanks to a trimmer picture of him appearing on Facebook. But it's bad news for Ryback fans, as it looks like he's out the door. Along with Jerry Lawler presumably, if his court case goes poorly.

Meanwhile, there was news that Stephanie McMahon wants to wrestle again (called it), that Sami Zayn is being booked to get the crowd behind him as an underdog/people's champion figure and that Moose might be the next NXT signing.

With the big PPV taking up a lot of focus, WWE's present and past superstars still found time to take to their social media accounts to share selfies, test-drive new bikinis and give an insight behind the scenes and into their personal lives.

This was the week in WWE Instagram...

25. RIP Chris Warren

Triple H paid tribute to Chris Warren, who sadly passed away this week at the age of just 49.

"Saddened to hear of Chris Warren's passing. He brought an iconic sound to DX and @WWE. My condolences to his family."

It really can't be over-stated how important Warren was in the musical history of the Attitude Era: in fact, it has been said by greater men than me that his DX theme really marked the beginning of the era. Look out for an extensive celebration of Warren and the DX band in the second issue of WhatCulture Wrestling magazine.
