27 WTF Moments From WWE SmackDown Live (Sept 13)
Guess who's back, back again... James Freakin' Ellsworth!
Backlash was good, wasn't it? Heading into the show, a cold build up and uninspiring card, made even worse by the concussion Randy Orton suffered at the hands of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam which meant The Viper was forced to pull out, didn't look good for the blue brand's first live event.
However, the Kane - who replaced Orton - versus Bray Wyatt match aside, it was a thoroughly enjoyable show. There wasn't too much nonsense, there was good wrestling, great storytelling and most importantly, every match ended with the right winner in the eyes of the majority of the WWE Universe.
So then, could this week's SmackDown Live keep momentum up and the proverbial ball rolling ahead of the next special event, No Mercy?
With all of these new champions, and the possibility of Intercontinental Champion The Miz and Daniel Bryan's fledgling rivalry looking like starting up again after their 'contract renegotiation' schtick at Backlash, there wasn't too much danger of them failing.
The show has a fresh feel to it these days. It's exciting, it's crowd pleasing, it's almost everything that WWE have been lacking in the not too distant past.
It's magical how great a WWE show can make you feel when you can see the product on television clearly has more than an ounce of influence from the fans...
Here are all of the WTF Moments from this week's SmackDown Live...
24. It's John O'Clock!
Yes, already, it's that time of the article where I deal with all of the John O'Clock moments from this week's WWE SmackDown Live.
Did you know you can pre-order the John O'Clock shirt I wear in the WTF Moment videos NOW? Well you can! Please do so by clicking here!
The first John O'Clock moment is a familiar one to regular readers of this column. It's those moments that John insists on calling the recently renamed WWE World Championship its previous name of WWE Championship... after the weeks of confusion that saw just about every on screen member of WWE's roster calling it something different, the fact the company have settled on something that John is choosing to ignore is a bonafide WTF Moment!
Heck, it happens that many times during a show that it's close to being considered a normality, even though it's so, so wrong.
Next, we have the moment that John said the following sentence: "There's the General Manager of RAW, Daniel Bryan."
I mean... John's sat there live at a SmackDown event yet he doesn't seem to know it...
Then, and this is a moment that I must admit I forgot to write down and can't be bothered to go back and check who it actually concerned, John said that either Carmella or Nikki Bella (those are the names that spring to mind) had a great showing at Backlash LAST NIGHT.
You don't need me to tell you that Backlash took place a full 42 hours before SmackDown Live... why does John think he's still behind the RAW commentary table?
"The WWE Women's SmackDown Championship" - says wrong John things round the way.
Finally, we have the moment that John claimed that it only took one RKO to wrap up... Randy Orton at Backlash. Yes, John claimed that Randy hit his own finisher on himself.
That's some kind of f****d up inception sh*t!
