3 Ups & 10 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 30)

The road to SummerSlam is paved with garbage.

The grind of Monday Night Raw is never more apparent than during shows like last night's, in which all logic and common sense are thrown out the window, with WWE's bloated writing team deliver three hours of catastrophically bad booking during which almost every featured performer is diminished.

This horrendous show did little to heat the red brand up ahead of what already looks like a tepid SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Yes, Brock Lesnar was back, but rather than engage 'The Beast' in a meaningful Roman Reigns confrontation, WWE used him and Paul Heyman to drag their own product.

Yes, Ronda Rousey returned from her suspension, but the supposed 'Baddest Women On The Planet' was outfoxed and outsmarted by a lower-card goober.

Yes, Braun Strowman remains the show's most naturally popular male star, but how long will that be the case if WWE continue presenting him as a braindead oaf?

This is but the iceberg's tip. With Rousey and Lesnar both back and a big Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre match all on-tap, Raw promised much, but delivered little. Shows of this calibre just aren't good enough, particularly with SummerSlam right around the corner. Try telling that to the people that penned this shambles, though...

NOTE: Scott Carlson returns to his regular role next week.
