How does that old song go? Oh yeah...

"One step forward and two steps back. Nobody gets too far like that!".

That might be the perfect way to sum up SmackDown's female ranks. Despite having a strong champion (and one who has found her voice as a heel) in Bayley, the division is still completely bereft of other interesting characters outside the main title feud. That's a problem, but it doesn't seem like one WWE are too bothered about.

This week's episode featured one of the worst women's segments in recent memory. Was there enough to salvage a decent show elsewhere? Hmm. That's up for debate. A lively main event and solid pay-per-view re-run didn't exactly motor other feuds along, although both were infinitely more palatable than what Dana Brooke, Naomi, Tamina and Lacey Evans were asked to do.

Last week's SmackDown, when WWE didn't focus on mind-numbing things like explaining why Matt Riddle wrestles barefoot, had some seriously good stuff on it. Sadly, that silliness continued here, and not even the good kind of silliness fans got at MITB.

Storyline missteps await you...
