3 WWE Staff Members Released - More Cutbacks To Come?
Gerald Brisco, Sarah Stock, and Mike Rontuda could be the first of a new wave of cuts.
Gerald Brisco, Sarah Stock, and Mike Rontuda were all released from their WWE backstage roles yesterday.
Brisco was the first to break the news, tweeting the following:-
The 73-year-old followed-up later on, thanking his followers for their well-wishes, adding that he needed a little space to process everything before committing to interviews. Brisco has "no anger, just emotions" following his release.
PWInsider reported on Stock and Rotunda's cuts shortly after Brisco's tweets.
All three were furloughed by WWE as part of the infamous 15 April cutbacks. Brisco had been with WWE since 1984, spending the last couple of decades working as a road agent, talent scout, and recruiter. Rotunda is Bray Wyatt's father and had been a WWE agent since 2006, while Stock was a five-year employee working as a producer and trainer at the Performance Center.
Worryingly, PWInsider is also reporting that several sources have claimed these releases are part of wider financial cutbacks within the promotion. The writeup notes that PWInsider is seeking clarification on whether or not more names will be let go by the promotion.
A sad situation for those negatively impacted by this. Fingers crossed they bounce back in a year where WWE is still expected to make record-breaking profits.
