Wrestling fans can be an expressive and creative bunch when the occasion calls for it. WWE's following is so strong, and their fans so passionate, that there have been countless displays of fan creativity over the years. One of the most public ways that fans can show their creativity is by bringing signs to WWE live events, especially television tapings and pay-per-views were there is a chance for their handiwork to become immortalised. WWF/E shows crowds used to be swamped with signs in the past. Any time you turned on Raw or Smackdown you would see hundreds of signs in the crowds. It might have sucked for the people sitting behind the sign holders, but they often provided entertainment for the viewing audiences. Signs can be random, witty, touching or just plain dumb but often provide some unexpected pleasure when watching wrestling. The 'funny' sign probably peaked in the Attitude Era, when fans were certainly not concerned with remaining PC, but there have been many hilarious signs spotted on WWE TV in recent years. Nowadays, a sign can become an instant meme thanks to the power of the internet and fans are definitely getting more and more creative with their signs. WWE might be in the habit of confiscating fan signs these days but, luckily for us, they didn't take these ones away.
