"First Time Ever" Match Set For Future WWE SmackDown
Triple H will present a first ever bout between these wrestlers on WWE SmackDown.
WWE will present a "first time ever" battle between two stars on the 'go home' edition of SmackDown before the 2023 Royal Rumble.
On Friday's show, the company announced that Karrion Kross will wrestle Rey Mysterio in two weeks. Both guys are likely to be involved in the 30-man match after that; Rey has already declared himself for the Rumble anyway, so it'd make sense if Kross followed suit by becoming one of the 30 himself.
They've got business to settle before that.
This week, Mysterio cut a promo about his son Dominik before being confronted by Karrion and Scarlett. Kross belittled Rey-Rey, then assaulted him to help build the upcoming match. It'll be fun to see what this pair can achieve together - Karrion's bouts with Drew McIntyre were underrated in some circles, but he'll be motivated to put on a show with an icon like Mysterio.
The smart money would be on Kross scoring a momentum-boosting win before heading into the Rumble as one of the outside bets to win it all. Triple H is clearly very high on Karrion, and he has a bright future on SmackDown.
