Acquiring talented pro wrestlers misused and cast aside by WWE and helping them become something greater has been an AEW hallmark since Jon Moxley stomped his way into the MGM Grand Garden Arena in May 2019, launching Kenny Omega from the original Double or Nothing set.

Moxley, Cody Rhodes, the late Brodie Lee, and FTR are AEW's proof of concept here. Generally, the promotion does a good job with ex-WWE wrestlers. Even Tay Conti, who never moved beyond NXT's lowest levels, has made big steps forward since becoming All Elite, showing more signs of progress in the past six months than the entirety of her four-year WWE run.

Miro and Shawn Spears show the system isn't foolproof. Perhaps they'll turn it around in time, but for now, their stories are the ones WWE crossovers will be hoping to avoid after making the jump.

Christian Cage became the latest wrestler to swap Orlando for Jacksonville at Revolution 2021. It's impossible to tell who will be next, though following the breadcrumb trail we're about to run through leads to one of SmackDown's most talented pure wrestlers, and a perennial fixture on any "Most Underutilised" list.

Time to fire up the rumour mill...
