After WrestleMania 26's mildly disappointing buyrate and reception, WWE went big with their WrestleMania build-up after a failed year trying to elevate multiple talents at once. Said failings were systemic, of course.

Between the 2010 and 2011 'Show Of Shows', WWE unleashed The Nexus on the main roster, but the entire crew had gone from Wade Barrett's "BOOM" to total bust within six months. Short eight brand new stars, WWE turned to some of their biggest ever for matches and moments that theoretically guaranteed that the 27th 'Grandest Stage' would be the grandest in years.
