5 Reasons Sheamus Cashing In Was Best For Business
Putting the title on the Celtic Warrior might not have been such a bad idea...
Survivor Series has been and gone, and a new WWE World Heavyweight has been crowned. Many expected the tournament to end with either Roman Reigns or Dean Ambrose turning heel, but the man on top at the end of the show was the man who actually lost in a first round match of the tournament. Sheamus had been carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase since June, and a small number (myself included) called him leaving Survivor Series the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The decision led to a lot of folk rolling their eyes, and for good reason. Ever since winning the briefcase Sheamus has been booked to look like a chump at every opportunity, and had the momentum of a particularly lethargic sloth coming into the event. To make matters worse, he was booked in a greying manner during the show itself. WWE likes their cash-ins to come 'out of nowhere', but sometimes they seem to overlook the big picture in favour of the surprise. I must insist on optimism though, and there are a number of reasons why putting the strap on Sheamus at this point might just be the best idea available to WWE creative. Of course, in an ideal world Seth Rollins would not have gotten injured but this isn't an ideal world and we have to make do with what we have. Here is an optimist's take on Sheamus winning the world title.
