5 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 10)
WWE crowns the "Best Tag-Team"; Brock Lesnar loses his mind; SmackDown gets a debutant.
Brock Lesnar and Sami Zayn could legit strike gold together as WWE's next comedy tag-team.
If that sounds daft, then good. It should, because the thought of Brock freakin' Lesnar teaming with anybody, let alone in an "odd couple" pairing, sounds so off. Watch this week's episode of SmackDown for yet more proof that Brocky boy and ol' Sam Zayn have natural chemistry though.
WWE are inching their way towards Day 1 on 1 January 2022. Friday's show was indicative of that, because Roman Reigns took a week off (Paul Heyman mumbled something about a training camp in Samoa, or whatever it was he said) and the main focus was on crowning the "Best Tag-Team" in a three-way main event.
That, whilst undeniable filler, was a decent watch with a logical conclusion that should help prep for the next pay-per-view. Elsewhere, SmackDown's writers continued Toni Storm's obsession with pie puns, but set up a Women's Title tilt opposite Charlotte Flair. Oh yeah, and the Happy Corbin/Madcap Moss combo are now full-time "practical jokers".
Ex-NXT worker Xia Li made her debut too, and WWE actually had a spot in mind for her...
