5 WWE Superstars Who Have Struggled & Floundered After Injuries

By James Ferrarella /

The worst thing that could ever happen to a pro wrestler is an injury. Ask Magnum TA or Edge about forced retirement. Although, I am sure Edge prefers doing Haven over being paralyzed... But most injuries do not lead to retirement. They lead to time off, rehabilitation and a reappearance. Sometimes it works. I documented some examples last week on this very website. Returning superstar success is not common. It is not likely. Injuries ruin careers. They stilt them, make them matter less and most importantly remove the wrestler physically and mentally from the audience. How often do you miss Sheamus? I forgot he was on the roster until I saw him in the WWE 2k14 roster. Plus he is a terrible baby-face and about five Irish Stereotypes. And not super popular regardless... John Cena is popular and will be perfectly fine. To have a bad return, Cena would have to punch a WWII veteran on the Rachel Maddow show while burning Vince McMahon's money. Then it might be hard for him....depending on how much money he burned. But back to the Irish Curse himself; It is possible that Sheamus will have a successful return. He is strong, and liked by the powers that be. History tells us that sometimes that isn't enough. Let's take a look at the Top 5 Superstars Who Struggled and Floundered After Injuries.
