If you were expecting metaphorical fireworks to try to spark ratings on Raw Monday night, you were disappointed. WWE’s latest era, the post-Paul Heyman Era of Raw, began Monday, but it didn’t lead to the massive shakeups you might have feared.

Apollo Crews held onto his United States Championship. Ricochet wasn’t trotted out to lose to Hornswoggle in a contract-on-a-pole match. Charlotte wasn’t in 10 segments.

Raw had a few really nice moments, with Drew McIntyre and R-Truth gelling well as an onscreen duo, and Seth Rollins’ torture of the Mysterio family – and Dominick’s attempt to strike back – were high points. Even the Street Profits and Viking Raiders, which were overall negatives this week, have thrown themselves into their vignettes and segments, so you’ve got to tip your cap to them.

But the big selling point of the episode, the return and un-retirement of Christian, fell completely flat. It felt like a big mistake from the beginning, and that feeling was reaffirmed in the main event.

The Raw tag division has been mothballed for more than a month. Natalya apparently is turning heel again. And Zelina Vega’s stable continues to have internal strife. But hey, Brother Love is running things, so everything should be tip-top soon enough.

With that said, let’s get to it…
