7 Losses That Need To Happen At WWE Battleground

Will Kevin Owens fail in his U.S. Title match?

By Mitch Nickelson /

WWE Battleground is this Sunday and there are several matches that are sure to entertain. Brock Lesnar will finally get his chance to regain the title that he lost without being pinned or submitted against Seth Rollins. Also, John Cena defends his U.S. Championship against Kevin Owens and considering how amazing their first two matchups were, this one could be equally as fantastic. There's also a rumor of an Undertaker return, but that's not confirmed at this point.

The show does look good but predicting this round of losers is not quite so easy. It's hard to argue that any of the competitors in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and U. S. Championship matches need to be walking away with defeats. They're all great competitors and it might prove too damaging in some cases if the losses are too decisive.

Even with many of the outcomes being hard to nail down for this special event there are some safer bets. The Intercontinental Championship is probably the least likely title to change hands and surely poor Wade Barrett will finally vanquish his unfortunate nemesis of late.

Just like with other recent WWE special events, every match announced for this card will be analyzed based on who needs to lose versus who is more likely to lose. Here are the 7 losses that need to happen at WWE Battleground...

7. R-Truth vs. King Barrett (Kickoff)

There's a lot to like about Wade Barrett. He's been repackaged many times in his WWE career and seems to make it work every time. And by all accounts he could be pushed as a main eventer and flourish. R-Truth is also a likeable wrestler. He's been pushing the humor hard since before WrestleMania this year and it's been more funny than not. This pairing, however, just doesn't work. The winner of this match is the rightful King of the Ring, or owner of the crown, or something.

Who Needs To Lose: R-Truth

R-Truth is deserving of a ton of respect for his career but he is in the twilight of it. Barrett was IC Champion earlier this year and should be in the mix of one of the midcard titles right now. This whole rivalry is doing way too much damage not only to Barrett but to whatever notoriety should be attributed to the King of the Ring tournament. Barrett needs to beat Truth and move on.

Who Will Likely Lose: R-Truth

Surely this has all just been a bad attempt at tiding Barrett over until creative could find a way to do something better for him. There's no logical reason why Truth should win, but the same could have been said for every single Truth win in this feud so far.
