7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Raw's Season Premiere (Sept 30)
Bait-and-switch, horrible closing segment "top off" disappointing episode.
Just in case you missed it the 87 times it was said Monday night, but this was the season premiere of Raw.
You really wouldn’t have been able to tell in terms of the quality of the show, which somehow was one of the more disappointing episodes of the Paul Heyman era. You would have thought with AEW debuting on Wednesday that they would have pulled out all of the stops, but Raw really underwhelmed overall.
The matches weren’t that great, and the storylines fell short. With a PPV just days away, only three matches have been made official, meaning that we’re in store for a flurry of social media activity to make matches or a bunch of stuff to be announced on SmackDown, just two days before Hell in a Cell.
Raw did give us the cool visual of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair in the ring together, as WWE figured out that the best way to have legends be part of its lucrative Saudi Arabia series is to have them on the sidelines rather than ruining their legacies.
