7 Ups And 2 Downs From NXT Worlds Collide
DIY, Mustache Mountain steal the show; WALTER dominates; New champ crowned.
In recent years, the night before one of the major WWE PPVs has been reserved for an NXT TakeOver event. But Saturday night was different.
Instead of the usual TakeOver, we were treated to a Worlds Collide event pitting NXT superstars against NXT UK wrestlers. This provided an unusual opportunity: If you were unfamiliar with the British counterpart to the back-and-gold brand, this was your chance to get to know some of the competitors. If you watch NXT UK regularly, this was a bonus PPV since we just had their Blackpool TakeOver a couple weeks ago.
While the format was similar to Survivor Series, the intra-brand competition was more personal than it was about brand supremacy. That alone made it easier to digest and enjoy. (Not having Michael Cole yell “brand supremacy!” 87 times also helped.)
Much like a TakeOver, Worlds Collide provided excellent in-ring action to keep everyone entertained. If you were looking for some great wrestling this weekend, you came to the right place. On top of that, they even set up some matches for this week’s NXT program, so that was a nice bonus.
With that said, let’s dig into this event and find out what made it tick. Let’s get to it…
