8 Biggest Show Stealing WWE SummerSlam Matches Ever

Just because you're not the main event, doesn't mean you can't steal the show!

Since 1988, SummerSlam has been an institution of excellence in WWE. Many years it even rivals Wrestlemania in terms of match quality. SummerSlam has been home to many incredible matches over the years, and while main events like Brock Lesnar versus The Rock, John Cena against Daniel Bryan, and Stone Cold Steve Austin taking on The Undertaker have lived up to their top billing, it would be a grave injustice not to pay tribute to the matches that have not only stolen the show, but have in some cases defined the event. At times, the non main event matches have been called on to save terrible shows, or would have been main events on anything except the card it appeared on. A select few of them flat-out should have been the main event themselves. Who can forget the awful back to back encounters Undertaker vs Undertaker in 1994, and Diesel vs Mabel in 1995? Hopefully everyone. Nevertheless, stealing the show isn't something that just happens at WrestleMania. Becoming the story of WWE's late summer classic is also a large accomplishment in itself. It's one that could put someone on the road to a premier spot at WrestleMania the following year (such as The Rock in 1998). When looking at Summerslam's history, the following matches not only were great inside the ring, the storytelling preceding the event set them up beautifully to deliver when the bell rang. Here are the 8 Biggest Show Stealing Matches in WWE SummerSlam History.
