8 Teams Which Could Be Chris Jericho's Mystery AEW Dynamite Partners

What's a little lawsuit between friends?

Look, the proverbial pussycat's already clawed its way out the bag - at least if the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer is to be believed. After months of anticipation and tease, the huge mystery partners Chris Jericho has promised will "shock everybody" come AEW's Dynamite debut tomorrow night are presumed to be LAX - a team who already made their presence known at All Out.

It's boring, but sensible. If Ortiz and Santana are the guys seconding Y2J this week, then we can only assume AEW wanted to have their cake and eat it too, by pulling the shock run at their most recent PPV whilst still advertising the presence of a mystery pairing.

It's a recipe for, if not boos, at least general indifference. And it's not ideal.

Let's assume for a second, then, that Meltzer is actually complying with the theory that he's using his position to provide misdirection on AEW's behalf (he isn't, but let's roll with it). In which case, LAX's name is merely being used for the ol' bait-and-switch, ahead of a much grander reveal on the premiere.

Having said that... it's still probably going to be them.

8. CM Punk & Colt Cabana

Look, yes, this is a patently ridiculous suggestion, but until about a week ago so was the legitimate proposal that CM Punk, the most sought free agent in wrestling for the past half decade, could make his long-hoped comeback as a host on an anodyne studio talk show. If there's a realistic chance of that outcome, then literally nothing is off the table for The Best in the World's surely imminent return.

Punk and Colt Cabana finally settled their bitter legal issues this past week, with the pair jointly requesting the case be dismissed, though there is no love lost between the two in the wake of its conclusion. After the filing, Punk spoke bitterly about how the Art of Wrestling host tried to "exhort" him, and there was no suggestion that they'd kissed and made up.

But doesn't that fact just add an extra layer of incredulity to the duo being sensationally named as Jericho's partners on Wednesday? It does - but it also means its extremely, extremely unlikely.

Likelihood: A mathematically impossible -20%.
