8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (11 Aug)
Omega vs. Christian announced, Dante Martin flies, Allin vs. Garcia, Britt Baker, and more!
All Elite Wrestling's run of weekly specials came to an end last night, as the promotion hit Pittsburgh, Pennysylvania after their Daily's Place stop-off for Homecoming, delivering a marked improvement on last week's middling offering.
There was no shortage of things to build to in Britt Baker's hometown. Rampage debuts this Friday and with only Red Velvet vs. Baker announced, the promotion had to put a card together. Britt's latest homecoming is a selling point, but more of those were required to convince viewers from day one that this won't be a B-show, but must-see viewing in spite of its awkward timeslot.
AEW accomplished this handily.
The small matter of the open All Out main event also hung over last night's show. That situation was solved early on, as Kenny Omega learned his opponent following Hangman Page's slide back down the ladder. Elsewhere, we got Chris Jericho facing Wardlow in his penultimate labour, an IMPACT Tag Team Title match pitting The Good Brothers against Dark Order's Evil Uno and Stu Grayson, Kris Statlander vs. Nyla Rose in a potential Women's Title eliminator, a Super Elite trios match with a high-flying standout, and more.
Let's light the fuse...
