Goldberg & Kofi Kingston highlight a promo-heavy Super ShowDown go-home.
The real reason fans should be upset with WWE's Wild Card Rule is simple: it is grinding SmackDown to dust.
The stream of constant Raw invaders means there's no screentime for exciting talents like Ali, Rusev, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Buddy Murphy, who is yet to make his televised SD debut after April's Superstar Shake-Up. Rather than a sharp, well-written alternative, the show is starting to feel like Raw's little brother again. This is the hand we've been dealt, and last night's Super ShowDown go-home show was a solid but unspectacular offering that did nothing to assuage said complaint.
Goldberg's first WWE appearance in two years gave Team Blue a unique selling point this week, and the former Universal Champion delivered - though not without The Undertaker's help. Elsewhere, we were promised to a Moment of Bliss segment with Bayley, who learned her new number one contender following a big Triple Threat. Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler furthered their rivalry in the evening's opening slots, Shane McMahon once again used his army of goons to dispatch Roman Reigns, and the 24/7 Championship's mayhem continued, with R-Truth somehow conspiring to leave with the green and gold belt once more.
