Abyss & Sonjay Dutt To Sign For WWE?
Two TNA lifers look set to jump ship.
Impact Wrestling legends Abyss and Sonjay Dutt have departed the promotion and now look set to sign with WWE, according to Mike Johnson of PW Insider.
Johnson writes that both men are officially gone from the company formerly known as TNA, with Impact informing the roster of their departures, having wished them well, and said they didn't want to hold either man back from what they described as "great opportunities."
Abyss, an Impact Hall of Famer, is the most tenured employee in company history. He began working for the promotion in 2002 (their formative year) and barring a short break while not under contract in 2014, 'The Monster' has been there ever since. In terms of accolades, he's a multi-time tag team, Television, X Division, and NWA World Heavyweight Champion.
Dutt, 36, has been in and out of the company since 2003, with his most recent return commencing as a member of the creative team and a part-time wrestler in 2017. He's a former X Division stalwart, though he only held that belt once.
Konnan and Tommy Dreamer have replaced the departees on Impact creative. It's currently unclear what kind of roles they'll occupy in WWE, but their respective career trajectories suggest they'll be involved more behind the scenes than in the ring.
