AEW Dynamite Beats NXT's Ratings For Third Week In A Row
Bash at the Beach was a big hit amongst the Wednesday night viewership.
AEW Dynamite scored its third successive victory in the Wednesday night ratings war this week, with the Bash at the Beach special drawing an average of 940,000 viewers across its two hours.
This is a slight decline on the previous week's 947,000, though the margin of error when calculating Nielsen ratings means it's essentially the same.
In that regard, WWE NXT was in a similar boat, attracting 700,000 viewers compared to 721,000 the week before.
As far as the key 18-49 demographic goes, both shows saw slight increases with AEW sitting at a healthy 0.38 (the show's highest since 20 November) and NXT on 0.21.
The only demographic in which NXT defeated AEW was, as usual, the over 50s, though Dynamite ran the WWE show a lot closer than they normally would. Those ratings came in at 0.35 vs. 0.34.
The big takeaway here is that last week's maligned Nightmare Collective/Dark Order content didn't drive significant numbers away from AEW, though the Bash at the Beach marketing and branding likely helped bolster the viewership, mitigating these concerns. NXT, meanwhile, put on a show many considered superior between the ropes, and it'll be interesting to see if big angles like #DIY's reformation boost their figures.
