AEW Ends Content Rights Deal In Mexico, Central & South America
AEW programming will no longer air on Space across various regions.
All Elite Wrestling's partnership with Latin American television channel Space is over, meaning the promotion's content will no longer air on the platform in various territories.
Per AEW itself, Space will stop showing the promotion's programming in Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, with Brazil being the exception. This came into play on 30 September. From 1 October, viewers in these areas would be able to watch AEW content through AEW Plus, the company's subscription-based service through FITE TV.
“To our fans in Meixco, South America, Central America, and the Carribean... we want to thank you for watching AEW on Space,” the statement reads. “However, we have an update to share. As of September 30, AEW content will no longer be available on Space, with the exception of Brazil. Starting October 1, you can continue watching AEW programming on 'AEW Plus.' AEW Plus will exclusively stream all of AEW’s weekly shows including AEW Dynamite, AEW Rampage, AEW Dark, AEW Dark: Elevation, and Battle of the Belts.”
Dave Meltzer notes in the Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online Daily Update column that AEW and Space had come to the end of their contract year. AEW turned down an offered extension. Thus, company programming, with the exception of pay-per-views, will now air on AEW Plus.
Space is owned by AEW's United States television partners, Warner Bros. Discovery, who pay the promotion around $44 million in rights fees.
