AEW Pays Tribute To ECW After Rampage Goes Off-Air
Taz, Tony Khan, Chris Jericho, CM Punk and more went extreme post-AEW Rampage.
AEW paid special tribute to the original ECW after Friday's episode of Rampage went off-air.
Tony Khan, Taz, Chris Jericho, CM Punk and more were all featured. The promotion's ex-ECW contingent, including agents like Jerry Lynn and Dean Malenko, also came out in front of the live Philadelphia crowd to reminisce about the hardcore glory days.
Taz likened AEW to Paul Heyman's old renegade operation, then turned to Khan and said All Elite Wrestling is the best place he's ever worked. That high praise was followed by some jokes.
Punk emerged to wisecrack that he shouldn't be left out - he's a former ECW World Champion, after all. That subtle WWE nod was followed by more gushing about what Heyman's organisation had done for the pro wrestling industry in the 90s.
AEW got talked up too, of course.
The whole segment was little more than an added bonus for the live fans in Philly, but some old-timers who recall the original ECW would've appreciated it. The bit has been uploaded to AEW's YouTube channel, and is embedded below.
Check it out if you fancy some ECW memories.
