AEW's Brandi Rhodes Deletes Twitter Following Fan Criticism
A rough social media week culminates in Brandi deleting her account.
Brandi Rhodes has seemingly deleted her Twitter account after facing immense criticism from fans since the launch of AEW Heels earlier this week.
As pointed out by wrestling journalist Gary Cassidy, navigating to Brandi's @TheBrandiRhodes tag currently leads you to a blank page, accompanied by the standard "this account doesn't exist" error message:-
Twitter policy means that Rhodes has 30 days to reactivate her count from the time of deletion. The platform can permanently remove it from that point onwards.
There is currently no word on why, exactly, Brandi has taken this step, though she has been hit by several waves of targeted criticism this week. AEW's new Heels program, which is intended to be a female fan community, drew flak for its $49.99 membership fee. There has also been immense discussion on the promotion's dedication (or perceived lack thereof) to women's wrestling throughout the week, particularly with the Deadly Draw Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament airing on YouTube rather than TNT.
Both topics are worthy of well-thought-out, constructive criticism and debate, though targeted online harassment is a curse on this planet, and it's disheartening to learn that another wrestling personality may have been driven off a platform as a result of it.
