Backstage Update On How Cedric Alexander Is Perceived In WWE
Not quite the 'GOAT'.
In a somewhat speculative story penned by WrestlingNews.co's Paul Davis, Vince McMahon appears to have "cooled off" on Cedric Alexander. "It looks like..." was the phrasing used.
This may well be an exercise in dot connection premised in recent events - i.e. the quite tiresome discourse on whether or not Alexander was "buried" in the summer for not capturing the United States Championship in his second RAW programme. The nature of his losses supported Dave Meltzer's assertion, but the mere fact that Alexander was afforded a high-profile opportunity compelled many to cry hysteria. In any event, he has spent the winter jobbing on RAW and winning on Main Event, and then jobbing on Main Event; if the burial process isn't already underway, Vince at least has his hands on the shovel.
Davis does claim that he has "heard" Cedric is well-liked backstage, but does not specify whether that is in reference to the locker room or management types, not that the latter would mean much at all; Paul Heyman rates him, which formed the basis of his push, but the Executive Director of Monday Night RAW is no auteur.
At this point, Cedric would clearly be best-served in NXT, but then again who wouldn't?
