AEW World Champion MJF won't be vacating his title despite suffering a legitimate torn labrum.

In a since-deleted post, MJF confirmed on X this Monday that a recent MRI revealed the torn labrum, though he'll still be making his upcoming World Title defence against Samoa Joe. That bout was recently confirmed for the Worlds End pay-per-view in MJF's home - Long Island, NY - on 30 December.

Said MJF before hitting the delete button:

"I just got an MRI. I tore my labrum in my left shoulder. I’ll be defending my title at worlds end. I believe in AEW."

Dave Meltzer recently wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that as well as dislocating his hip against Jay White at this month's Full Gear show, MJF had re-aggravated an old shoulder issue. That would be the torn labrum, presumably. The AEW World Champion is understood to have worsened the joint following a top-rope Uranage.

Fightful Select reports on the legitimacy of MJF's injury, stating that the 27-year-old had told people within AEW last week that he'd torn his shoulder. 'The Salt of the Earth' is hoping to avoid surgery, but will be undergoing treatment.
